Two great things going on tonight, both at 6:30pm.

If you’re in Seattle, go listen to the panel on Washington ocean acidification, held in the Great Hall at Town Hall, Seattle WA (map). $10 in advance at brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door. There will be a reception at 5:30pm. Details at sustainablepath.org.

If you’re in Tacoma, go to the Science Cafe at the Swiss Pub (map) where University of Puget Sound’s Bernard Bates talks about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (and how you can help!) while you have a drink. Free.

Here’s Jill Tarter of SETI talking about their search for cosmic company.

Yay Bernie Bates! He taught me freshman physics, and is an all-around super great guy. And the Swiss is a good pub, too!

Did he have you search for extraterrestrial intelligence in class? I would so take that class!

No, but I’m sure he was doing things like SETI at home then.

What say you?
